In October 2014, while trekking toward Tilicho Lake — one of the highest and most pristine lakes in the world — our co-founder Chandu was caught in a severe snowstorm in the Annapurna region.
For a brief period, survival felt uncertain.
Faced with the possibility that life could end much sooner than expected, he asked himself a simple question.
If tomorrow never comes, what work is worth dedicating a lifetime to?
He decided that if he made it back home, he would build Tilicho. Chandu returned safely. The trek was abandoned, and Tilicho Lake was never reached.
But the question it inspired eventually became Tilicho. Today, the name reminds us of the standards we aspire to.
- To build with clarity.
- To work with people we admire.
- To create opportunities where we come from.
- To leave systems better than we found them.
